Another item from the April Toronto show. Francis is at every Toronto show diligently producing sketches for free. He asked what I wanted and I left it up to him: received this very nice Hellboy sketch.

Attended the fan appreciation show in Toronto last month and picked up a few gems, mostly from local artists I’ve missed the last few years. Ramon Perez is doing the current art in JSA Classified and did this amazing Dr. Strange sketch for me. Stunning.

A great eBay find: three consecutive pages from Giant Sized Kid Colt but Larry Lieber. These are my first western pages and I’ve really been enjoying them: Lieber’s work, especially the western genre, is going cheap on eBay.

Picked this up on eBay a while ago but didn’t have a chance to scan it until yesterday. Rude seems to be selling off quite a bit lately and some deals are there to be had. In my mind Steve Rude captures the golden and silver age in his art style, and this page exemplifies that.

Stuart made an appearance at my local comic shop, Big B Comics in Hamilton. Superman Secret Identity was a great story and I hoped he would have pages from the series, even though it was several years ago. I was chatting with him and flipping through his book and he had the pages below. Gorgeous!

Picked this beauty up on eBay. American Flagg! was a big deal for me when I started collecting comics in the 80′s indie glory days, and led to a lifelong love of Chaykin art. I must say the 80′s stuff of his is my favorite. Looking for Blackhawk pages but not willing to pay the prices I’ve seen.

Another Toronto convention find. Kirk had very few Agents Of Atlas pages available, but they were priced affordably and I picked these two beauties. I really enjoyed the series’ artwork.

Two pages I picked up at the Toronto convention. Yanick is a funny individual when it comes to pages: he picks prices for his pages arbitrarily that I feel are too high, but I don’t think he cares if they sell or not. I really liked these two consecutive pages and so I paid the asking price. Very nice overall, and he does have a way with the female form.

The Toronto Comic Book Expo was last weekend and I attended in the hopes of snagging some pages and sketches. Not a lot available at this show, but I did have a chance to chat with Chris Sprouse and pick up the items below. It was nice to get a breakdown and the completed page, to see his process in action.
