One man’s trash is another’s treasure
David Aja is a real up and comer with his new Iron Fist series. A Jae Lee/Alex Maleev kind of style. I contacted his about getting some pages from the series but he’s not selling his work at this time. We had a very pleasant exchange and he complimented my collection.
I’m a huge Steve Rude fan and am on his newsletter mailing list, so I saw he (or actually his wife) was selling Thor Godstorm pages again. I know artists charge what they can get, and we’re a capitalistic supply/demand society, but most of his pages are $200 plus which is out of my reach. This page has no one famous on it, i.e. cheap, so I picked it up. I really enjoy the crazy energy thing going on in the last panel.
Finally have a Ryan Sook page. Someone on eBay has been selling Sook’s Zatanna covers and they’re gorgeous but way overpriced for me. I like painted covers, and don’t like paying crazy dollars for inked covers. Anyway, this Spectre page was on eBay so I picked it up.
Picked this up on eBay. I was actually bidding on a Larry Stroman page from the seller and noticed he had this as well. It was cheap and I didn’t have anything from Dan Brereton. I had seen him at cons but most of his work is painted and he wants a lot of money for his pages. It’s two sided on DC paper; the one image says “Dread” and is signed. The image on the back has no notes.
This is slightly off topic for the site but DC/Vertigo is offering downloadable first issues of most Vertigo titles. Anything with a #1 following the title is available for free in PDF format.
