I picked up a Starman page on eBay two years ago and included were these two pages from Tony’s very early work on a series called “Blade”.

Leonard Kirk made an appearance at my local comic shop recently and was doing free sketches for everyone. As usual I requested Dr. Fate, and below is the result.

Bart Sears The Path pages

Tuesday, August 15th, 2006

Bart was at the Paradise Toronto show in 2006 and had a huge stack of pages available for sale. I was a big fan of his work on Crossgen’s The Path and saw he had most of his pages. Every Crossgen page was a full two pages; he told me all their stuff was. After agonizing over what I could afford I picked out these two ( actually four ) consecutive pages from issue 2. Too big for my scanner the first is a digital photo, which I hope to update with proper scans shortly.  The second is a joined version of my two scans, but still the scanner wasn’t big enough and I have a line down the center where I’m missing a very small amount.

Stuart Sayger Dr. Fate

Tuesday, August 15th, 2006

I’ve had this amazing Dr. Fate piece from Stuart Sayger for a few years. In 2003 I commissioned a Dr. Fate piece on the Friday of the Toronto show and he kindly finished it and dropped it off at booth of Big B Comics, my local shop. I saw the piece and hated it, but didn’t say anything for a while. Chris from Big B mentioned to Stuart that I didn’t like the piece, so the next show I brought it along and he offered to do another for me. This is the result: of the the most fluid and dynamic pieces I’ve seen. My scanned image is below, but unfortunately joining two images caused a very thin white line.
